The candidate

We are looking for an 35+ experienced Java developer to join our Java development team with core development skills in Java Struts / JSP web application development. The candidate should have previous experience in developing Java enterprise addition applications and should be able to demonstrate their previous work. The candidate should have potential to explore and learn new technologies and come up with innovative ideas to solve technical problems easily.

The role

Working closely with the experienced Java team, the Java developer will be required to work on specific features of our platform. We have a large Java team 120 Developers, so we distribute our teams into smaller teams to allow better learning and communication. The Java developer should be able to show good communication skills and work as part of a team and accomplish their development responsibilities with high standards within time scales.

Key responsibilities

Understand our Java language based platform, its features and technical architecture
Work with a Java team to develop platform features using Java
Use JIRA for project and task management
Use SVN to make sure that the code they write is stored securely
Attend team meetings to report day to day activities and discuss allocations in Stand up meetings

Essential skills

Highly experienced in Java/JSP web application development
MS SQL Server 2005 / 2008
Apache Struts 2 framework
Team players - Able to deliver allocated project development tasks

Desirable skills

Eclipse IDE
Restful API experience (development and use)
Tomcat application server
Apache web server
Apache ANT and Apache Subversion (SVN)
Good HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills
Experience implementing WebDAV
Experience integrating with Microsoft SharePoint
Experience integrating with Microsoft Active Directory / LDAP

Soft Skills

Leadership qualities.
Good communication skills for Client meeting.
Ready to handle the projects with responsibility.
Capable to lead the team of Jr.-Middle level Developers.
